In the Bible we read about a crucial moment before Jesus was crucified. Pilate gave the people a choice. They could let Jesus go, or they could let Barabbas go. Barabbas was a criminal. But the crowd did something shocking:
… they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
Matthew 27:23
This story shows us something important: We are all sinners and deserve punishment. But Jesus came to take our place.
